Why does our school have a PTA?
Our PTA, known as Sandford Primary School PTA, has been an integral part of our school community since its inception. We are a dynamic group of dedicated volunteers with a singular mission: to support the school by raising funds that enhance, enrich, and improve our school's commitment to "Love, Learn, and Laugh."
We welcome and encourage new volunteers to join our ranks. If you have a child at our school, you're automatically a member, and the level of involvement is entirely up to you. Whether you choose to actively participate in our meetings or simply attend our exciting events for some fun, your presence is valued.
We conduct regular meetings to brainstorm fresh ideas and plan events, typically scheduled once each half-term. In addition, our email group ensures you stay informed with meeting minutes, new initiatives, event updates, and requests for assistance within the school.
We have three WhatsApp groups
Our main WhatsApp group. Here we message about the number of volunteers that we need at events and meeting dates.
We also have a group "crafters" who work behind the scenes, creating special gifts and beautifully wrapping items for occasions like Mother's Day, Father's Day, and our 'Elfridges' sales throughout the year.
The third group is our Advertisers. This group designs our posters and tickets for advertising our events on social media and in our local community.
You are welcome to join any of these groups, or all three, and we're here with open arms to welcome you.
How we raise funds
We're always on the lookout for innovative fundraising ideas. Currently, we organise school discos, Easter bingo, adult quiz nights, Christmas cards, the 'Elfridges' sale, Christmas Fayre, a summer fayre, a bouncy castle day, and even an overnight camp out. We also collaborate with local businesses and supermarkets to secure funding.
How we allocate funds
Our PTA committee is responsible for determining how the funds we raise are spent, in line with the school's objectives. Typically, we allocate funds for "extras" that fall outside the school budget. The school provides a wish list of items they'd like us to consider, and we discuss and make decisions about these items during our meetings.
What we've funded so far
Thanks to the collective efforts of our PTA, we've supported numerous initiatives, including playground equipment, an outdoor shelter for Saplings, an outdoor 'nurture hut,' shade sails, a whole-school maths subscription, pond dipping equipment, guitar hooks for the music room, and friendship benches in the playground for the children, among many other projects.
For regular updates on our activities, check out the PTA section in the school's weekly newsletter, which you can find here.
We are a registered charity, and you can find all our contact and financial information on the Charity Commission page.
