Pupil Premium
What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is funding given to state funded schools in England to support the achievement and progress of children from disadvantaged families. This funding is allocated to every school based on the number of eligible children on roll. Groups eligible for the funding include children currently eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and those previously eligible within the last 6 years, children looked after by local authorities and children previously looked after by a local authority.
National figures commonly show that these groups of children do not achieve as well as their peers so the pupil premium is used to provide additional support in a wide variety of ways for those who need it most. As well as helping to reduce the academic inequalities and gaps in attainment between those students who are on FSM and their peers, the funding also helps to support meeting their social and emotional needs and helps enable these children to achieving their potential.
